The Eastern Valleys: Bradfield, Loxley, etc.

From the heights of the eastern moors you can look eastward to Sheffield, but in between is a great deal of gritstone country which, though it isn't spectacularly desolate like the high moors themselves, is very beautiful. This is Strines reservoir, which nestles a couple of miles east of Back Tor, the highest point of Derwent Edge. It's a very peaceful, picturesque area, even when, as here, it has only just stopped tipping it down.

These views look westward towards Back Tor on Derwent Edge, from Wadsley Common on the edge of Sheffield.

The folly on Ughill moor is great for photography, but when it's as cold as this the sheep don't really appreciate it.
